Game Plan
A four day (four hour) in-classroom presentation addressing healthy relationships, refusal skills, media literacy, STIs and the value of making a commitment to abstinence from all high-risk behaviors, particularly premarital sexual activity. Created by Project Reality (www.projectreality.org), and meant for 7th - 9th grade.

Navigator
Also created by Project Reality, but for 10th - 12th grade. While highlighting important aspects of Game Plan, this curriculum calls for more mature reflection on abstinence until marriage, dating relationships, conflict resolution, and drug and alcohol abuse. Navigator also draws attention to the prevalence of internet pornography, and the desensitizing effects of our popular media.

Choosing the Best PATH
An 8-week curriculum designed for middle-school students involving a weekly mentoring component and multimedia lessons. Students will learn what it means to be abstinent, understand the risks of pregnancy and STIs, how to resist pressures to engage in high risk behaviors, learn to develop healthy relationships, and develop character traits that will promote healthy mental and emotional growth. Classes are team taught by a male and female teacher, and discussion groups within each class are separated by gender where appropriate.

  • Lesson 1 - Sex: Everybody's Talking About It
Students will hear interviews of other teens discussing sexuality, learn about the risks of being sexually active, and learn about practicing self-respect as opposed to enduring the emotional consequences of premarital sexual activity.

  • Lesson 2 - The Risks of STIs and HIV/AIDS
Students will hear and watch interviews of young people who have contracted an STI. They will learn about the most common STIs, how they are spread, and discuss showing compassion to those in serious need or distress.

  • Lesson 3 - Teen Pregnancy and "Safe Sex"?
Students will learn about and discuss the consequences of teen pregnancy. The lesson will question the notion of "safe sex" through the use of contraception. Students will also discover how responsibility relates to sexual activity.

  • Lesson 4 - Pressures to Be Sexually Active
This lesson will identify four major pressures to have sex, talk about the influence of alcohol, and discuss respect and how it relates to not pressuring others.

  • Lesson 5 - Choosing the Best Path
In this lesson, students will hear why other teens and young adults are choosing, and consider the reasons to be abstinent until marriage. Students will also have the opportunity to sign an abstinence pledge

  • Lesson 6 - Set It! The Need for Boundaries
This lesson will help students discover the difference between love and infatuation, how to set boundaries for healthy relationships, and discuss the character trait of self-discipline as it relates to setting boundaries.

  • Lesson 7 - Say It! The Need to Speak Up
This lesson will discuss common tactics people use to pressure others into having sex, teach students four important skills to help them say "NO," and explore the role of courage in choosing abstinence.

  • Lesson 8 - Show It! The Need to Be Assertive
In this lesson, students will watch other teens demonstrate assertiveness via video. Students will learn what it means to be assertive and role play activities that demonstrate the four Say It! skills.
Parent Education Nights
These events are designed to motivate and empower parents on how to talk with their teen about healthy life choices, particularly those choices concerning their sexual behavior, and how to nurture a relationship that fosters open dialog.

Abstinence Awareness Week Assemblies - One hour assemblies with nationally known speakers to motivate students in a positive direction and challenge them to live life making healthy choices.
